God is perfect. There is no amount of good things we can do to bridge the gap between our sinful lives and God’s perfection.
Matthew 5:48 – You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
We have all rebelled against God and have gone our own way.
Romans 3:23 ESV – For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
The price for our sins is spiritual and physical death.
Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord
But because of God’s great love, he sent his one and only son to be the bridge for us. Jesus lived a sinless life and was the perfect sacrifice for our sins. He died in our place.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
We matter to God. God created every living thing. He created us and wants to have relationship with us. Through Jesus sacrifice, we can have a relationship with him.
Romans 5:1 – Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
But it gets better.
Jesus not only died in our place, but he rose from the grave and conquered death. Jesus is alive. The same spirit that rose Christ from the dead lives in us!
John 10:10 – The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
Prayer of Surrender to Jesus
If you are not sure whether you are right with God or you know in fact that you need Jesus in your life, you can choose to follow Him right now by praying a prayer of surrender to Jesus.
Dear Jesus, I thank you that you love me so much. I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and rose victoriously from the grave so that I can have a relationship with you. I repent of my sin and the things I’ve done wrong. I accept you as my Lord and Saviour, and I accept your forgiveness. Today, I say YES to you! I believe you live in me and that my life now belongs to you. Thank you that I am a new creation in you and I have eternal life with you in Heaven. In Jesus name, Amen.
